1. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The DESPAIR-LAB BREATH CONTROL SYSTEM 1.0 is a programmable control system featuring a touchscreen interface, dual A/B valve control, configurable timing, cycle management, remote control, external trigger input, and optional scent-system integration.
The system provides four primary operating modes:
- LOOP MODE
- RANDOM MODE
- SCENT MODE
- TRIGGER MODE
The available controls and parameters vary according to the selected operating mode.
IMPORTANT
BREATH CONTROL SYSTEM 1.0 is a control device capable of controlling airflow-related equipment. The available timing parameters describe the operating range of the device and are not recommendations for any particular duration of use.
2. PACKAGE CONTENTS
The standard package includes:
2.1 Main Unit
BREATH CONTROL SYSTEM 1.0
The main control unit provides the touchscreen interface, A/B valve control, operating-mode management, and system settings.
2.2 Storage Case
A dedicated storage case is included for the main unit and accessories.
2.3 Remote Controller
The remote controller provides real-time access to the A/B valve controls.
2.4 Charger
The supplied charger is listed in the original package documentation as a 12.6V charger.
2.5 Trigger Connection Cable
A 2.5 mm trigger connection cable is included for use with the external passive-switch trigger interface.
3. MAIN UNIT
3.1 Touchscreen Display
The main unit is equipped with a 2.8-inch touchscreen.
The touchscreen is used to access:
- Operating-mode selection
- Mode parameters
- A/B valve status
- Timing information
- Cycle information
- System settings
- Other operating controls
3.2 Power / Emergency Stop Switch
The front panel features a 16 mm illuminated switch.
The switch is used for:
- Powering the main unit on
- Emergency stopping the system
The switch illuminates red when the system is powered on.
3.3 Air-Tube Connections
The main unit uses standard 40 mm air-tube connections.
The product interface documentation identifies:
- 40 mm standard male air-tube connector
- 40 mm standard female air-tube connector
4. REAR INTERFACES
The rear panel provides three dedicated interfaces.
4.1 Charging Port
12.6V charging port
The main-unit interface diagram identifies the charging port as 12.6V.
NOTE
The package list identifies the supplied charger as 12V, while the main-unit interface diagram identifies the charging port as 12.6V. These specifications are retained according to the respective original product documents.
4.2 Scent Mode Signal Port
3.5 mm
The Scent Mode signal port is used to connect the main unit with a compatible scent-control unit.
4.3 Trigger Mode Signal Port
2.5 mm
The Trigger Mode signal port is designed for an external passive-switch signal.
WARNING
DO NOT INPUT VOLTAGE INTO THE TRIGGER MODE SIGNAL PORT.
The Trigger Mode interface is designed for a passive switch signal. Applying external voltage may damage the main-unit circuitry.
5. POWER ON
To power on the system:
- Press the silver switch beside the touchscreen.
- Release the switch.
- The switch illuminates red.
- The main unit performs a self-test.
- After approximately two seconds, the touchscreen illuminates.
The system is then ready for operation.
6. EMERGENCY STOP
The main power switch also functions as the emergency-stop control.
In an emergency:
Press the power / emergency-stop switch immediately.
According to the original system documentation, activating the emergency stop:
- Immediately cuts power to the main unit.
- Opens the air valve for ventilation.
WARNING
The emergency-stop switch must remain immediately accessible whenever the system is operating.
Never operate the system in a situation where immediate manual intervention is impossible.
7. HOME SCREEN
The Home Screen is the primary operating interface.
The available information and controls change according to the selected mode.
7.1 MODE SELECTION
Tap the mode-selection area to open the operating-mode menu.
The system provides:
- LOOP MODE
- RANDOM MODE
- SCENT MODE
- TRIGGER MODE
Select the required mode before configuring its parameters.
7.2 MODE SWITCH
After selecting an operating mode, use the mode switch to start the selected operation.
7.3 A/B VALVE STATUS
The Home Screen displays the current status of the A and B valves.
The displayed valve status changes in real time according to the current system state.
7.4 SETTINGS
Tap the Settings button to access the system settings and mode-parameter configuration pages.
8. HOME SCREEN INFORMATION
The Home Screen provides real-time operating information.
8.1 SET TIME / ELAPSED TIME
The interface displays both the configured time and elapsed time.
For example:
8:0
represents:
- Set time: 8 seconds
- Elapsed time: 0 seconds
8.2 REMAINING CYCLE COUNT
When a finite cycle count is configured, the remaining cycle count is displayed on the Home Screen.
When Infinite Loop is enabled, the remaining-cycle display is not shown.
8.3 TIME PROGRESS BAR
The progress bar changes according to the relationship between the configured time and the elapsed time.
8.4 A/B VALVE STATUS
The A/B valve status is updated in real time during operation.
8.5 CONTROL COUNT
The system records the total number of control events after power-on.
The control count is automatically cleared when the main unit is powered off.
9. TIMING PARAMETERS
The current version of BREATH CONTROL SYSTEM 1.0 uses the following timing limits:

These limits apply to the corresponding timing parameters used throughout the system.
IMPORTANT
The values above define the available device settings. They do not constitute a recommendation for a specific operating duration.
10. LOOP MODE
10.1 OVERVIEW
Loop Mode provides configurable timing and cycle control.
The available parameters include:
- Valve Synchronization
- Infinite Loop
- Ventilation Time
- Closure Time
- Cycle Count
- B Valve
- Save
10.2 VALVE SYNCHRONIZATION
ON
When Valve Synchronization is enabled, the A and B valves operate according to synchronized control logic.
OFF
When Valve Synchronization is disabled, the B Valve configuration becomes available.
10.3 INFINITE LOOP
When Infinite Loop is enabled, the system continues operating until manually stopped.
When Infinite Loop is active:
- Continuous operation is enabled.
- Cycle Count is not used.
- Manual stopping is required.
WARNING
Never enable continuous operation without maintaining immediate access to the stop and emergency-stop controls.
10.4 VENTILATION TIME
The current system supports a minimum ventilation-time setting of:
6 seconds
10.5 CLOSURE TIME
The current system supports a maximum closure-time setting of:
60 seconds
10.6 CYCLE COUNT
One complete ventilation-and-closure sequence is counted as one cycle.
When Infinite Loop is enabled, Cycle Count is inactive.
10.7 B VALVE
When Valve Synchronization is disabled, the B Valve can be configured according to the available system settings.
The original interface provides:
- Normally Open
- Normally Closed
10.8 SAVE
The Save function stores the configured parameters.
Saved parameters can be retained for subsequent use according to the system's parameter-storage function.
11. RANDOM MODE
11.1 OVERVIEW
Random Mode provides variable timing within configured time ranges.
The mode includes:
- Valve Synchronization
- Ventilation Time Range
- Closure Time Range
- B Valve
- Continuous operation
11.2 VALVE SYNCHRONIZATION
When enabled, the A and B valves operate according to synchronized control logic.
When disabled, the B Valve setting becomes available.
11.3 VENTILATION TIME RANGE
The user can configure a ventilation-time range.
Minimum available ventilation time: 6 seconds
The system varies the operating time within the configured range.
11.4 CLOSURE TIME RANGE
The user can configure a closure-time range.
Maximum available closure time: 60 seconds
The system varies the operating time within the configured range.
11.5 B VALVE
When Valve Synchronization is disabled, the B Valve can be configured as:
- Normally Open
- Normally Closed
11.6 CONTINUOUS OPERATION
Random Mode supports continuous operation.
When continuous operation is enabled, the system must be manually stopped.
WARNING
Continuous operation should only be used when immediate manual intervention remains available.
12. SCENT MODE
12.1 OVERVIEW
Scent Mode allows BREATH CONTROL SYSTEM 1.0 to operate together with a compatible external scent-control unit.
The main unit communicates with the scent unit through the dedicated 3.5 mm Scent Mode signal port.
12.2 COMPATIBLE SCENT UNIT
Different production batches of the scent-control unit may use different internal circuits.
If a compatible scent unit does not operate correctly with the system, contact DESPAIR-LAB customer service for compatibility or upgrade assistance.
12.3 SCENT MODE PARAMETERS
Scent Mode provides the following parameters:
Infinite Loop
Enables continuous operation until manually stopped.
Ventilation Time
Controls the configured ventilation period.
Minimum: 6 seconds
Scent Delivery Time
Controls the operating duration of the connected scent-control unit.
Closure Time
Controls the configured closure period.
Maximum: 60 seconds
Cycle Count
A complete sequence consisting of ventilation, scent delivery, and closure is counted as one cycle.
12.4 SCENT UNIT CONNECTION
Connect the compatible scent-control unit to the dedicated:

The Scent Mode interface provides dedicated controls for:
- Infinite Loop
- Ventilation Time
- Scent Delivery Time
- Closure Time
- Cycle Count
- Save
13. REMOTE CONTROL MODE
13.1 ONE-KEY REMOTE ACTIVATION
Pressing any button on the remote controller immediately invokes Remote Control Mode.
The system then provides real-time A/B valve control through the remote controller.
13.2 A/B VALVE CONTROL
The remote controller provides dedicated controls for:
- A Valve
- B Valve
The corresponding valve can be controlled in real time.
13.3 TOUCHSCREEN MANUAL CONTROL
Remote Control Mode can also be accessed from the touchscreen.
After entering the Remote Control Mode page, select the corresponding A or B valve control.
13.4 SIMULTANEOUS CONTROL
According to the original system documentation, touchscreen manual control and remote-controller control do not conflict and may be used simultaneously.
IMPORTANT
Always maintain direct access to the emergency-stop control when using remote operation.
14. TRIGGER MODE
14.1 OVERVIEW
Trigger Mode provides an external trigger interface using a passive switch signal.
This function allows the system to be expanded with compatible external switching or sensing accessories.
14.2 TRIGGER INTERFACE
The dedicated Trigger Mode interface is:

14.3 PASSIVE SIGNAL ONLY
Trigger Mode is designed for a passive switching signal.
WARNING
DO NOT APPLY EXTERNAL VOLTAGE TO THE TRIGGER INTERFACE.
Applying voltage to the trigger input may damage the main-unit circuitry.
14.4 ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE
Trigger Mode requires an understanding of basic electrical connections.
Users without appropriate electrical knowledge should not attempt to configure or modify the trigger circuit.
15. EXTERNAL TRIGGER SOURCES
The original system documentation provides examples of possible external signal sources, including:
- Sensors
- Limit switches
- Photoresistors
- Microphone capsules
- Distance-measuring modules
- Liquid-level sensing arrangements
- External remote switches
These examples describe possible signal sources and do not constitute a guarantee of compatibility with every third-party device.
16. TRIGGER CONNECTION CABLE
The supplied trigger connection cable uses a:
2.5 mm connector
A compatible two-core connection can be used with an appropriate passive trigger accessory.
If a compatible 2.5 mm two-core female connector is already available, the original documentation indicates that direct connection can be used without stripping the cable.
For custom electrical connections, users must ensure that the connected equipment provides an appropriate passive switching signal.
WARNING
Never connect an external voltage source to the Trigger Mode signal input.
17. GENERAL SETTINGS
The Settings interface provides access to:
- Loop Mode parameters
- Random Mode parameters
- Scent Mode parameters
- Trigger Mode parameters
- Screen brightness
- Language
- Buzzer
- Version information
- Reset
18. SCREEN BRIGHTNESS
Screen brightness can be adjusted according to the surrounding environment.
Use the brightness control in the Settings interface to select the desired display level.
19. LANGUAGE
The system interface supports:
- Chinese
- English
The original documentation notes that the mainland-China sales version temporarily does not support switching the interface to English.
20. BUZZER
The built-in buzzer can be enabled or disabled.
When enabled, the system provides audible valve-status indications:
- One beep during ventilation
- Two beeps during closure
This provides an audible indication of valve-state changes during operation.
21. VERSION INFORMATION
The Settings interface provides system version information.
The version-information section can be used to identify the current software/system version installed on the main unit.
22. RESET
The system provides a dedicated Reset function.
Reset can be used to clear stored mode parameters.
IMPORTANT
Use Reset only when you intend to clear the stored settings.
23. PARAMETER STORAGE
The system supports parameter storage.
Depending on the operating mode, configured parameters can be retained after power-off.
The Save function is provided for storing configured operating parameters.
Reset can be used to clear stored parameters.

25. SAFETY INFORMATION
25.1 EMERGENCY STOP
Always keep the emergency-stop switch immediately accessible.
In an emergency, activate the emergency-stop switch immediately.
25.2 IMMEDIATE MANUAL CONTROL
The system should only be operated when an authorized user is able to intervene immediately.
Do not operate the system in circumstances where the emergency-stop control cannot be accessed.
25.3 TRIGGER ELECTRICAL SAFETY
The Trigger Mode input is designed for passive switching signals.
Never apply external voltage to the Trigger Mode input.
Incorrect electrical connections may damage the main unit.
25.4 CONTINUOUS OPERATION
Loop Mode and Random Mode can operate continuously when Infinite Loop is enabled.
Always maintain immediate access to the manual stop and emergency-stop controls.
25.5 EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
Before operation, inspect:
- Main unit
- Air-tube connections
- Cables
- Connectors
- Remote controller
- Connected accessories
Do not use damaged equipment.
25.6 MODIFICATIONS
Do not modify the main unit, electrical circuitry, valve system, or safety-related functions without authorization from DESPAIR-LAB.
Only use compatible accessories and connections.

28. IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER
BREATH CONTROL SYSTEM 1.0 is a control device, not a medical device.
The timing ranges provided by the system represent available device parameters and should not be interpreted as recommended operating durations.
Always maintain immediate access to the emergency-stop control and ensure that the system can be stopped immediately.
Never use damaged equipment, blocked air passages, incompatible accessories, or unauthorized electrical connections.
If any abnormal condition, discomfort, malfunction, or unexpected system behavior occurs, stop operation immediately and disconnect the system from use.
